This year, Bauta is once again taking part in OHS Minifest, organized by Open House Slovenia, which will take place from September 26–28 in Ljubljana and its surroundings. Together with Biro Gašperič, we invite you on Friday, September 26 at 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to tour the “House for Two Marathoners”, where we will present the architectural concept, the construction process and innovative technical details of the timber elements.
The house is characterized by a charcoal-black facade built with the traditional Japanese wood-charring technique Shou Sugi Ban, while the interior is clad with rough wooden boards. A colorful rammed-earth wall acts as a thermal mass regulating the indoor climate and serves as a backdrop for the living room. On the property, there is also a restored wooden sailboat and a Finnish sauna supported by a concrete column. Playful yet functional, the house supports an active and creative lifestyle.
You can find the project on the OHS website, where you can also check available time slots for tours. Registration opens on September 17 at 9:00 a.m.
More about OHS Minifest
OHS Minifest is the autumn edition of the Open House Slovenia festival. It offers an inspiring insight into contemporary architecture and renovated architectural heritage, presenting stories about spaces and their creators, owners and investors. Visitors are encouraged to discover high-quality architecture in their city and to actively engage in local planning and design processes.
Heritage for the Future
This year’s main theme of Open House Slovenia – Heritage for the Future – continues and deepens in the autumn edition of OHS Minifest. The program highlights innovative approaches to preservation and renovation, the importance of local identities, and the search for balance between respecting tradition and addressing modern challenges.
The key question the festival raises is: which of today’s practices will become the heritage of the future? Each of us, through our decisions, co-shapes the spaces we inhabit, and it is our responsibility to preserve and nurture quality architecture for generations to come.
