This year, we are once again taking part in the OHS Minifest, organised by Open Houses Slovenia. This time, together with Biro Gašperič, we will present the “House for Two Biker Souls Sharing a Ride” to visitors. The house, for which Bauta d.o.o. served as the main contractor, will open its doors on Friday, 25 September 2026, with two viewing slots available – at 3 pm and 4 pm.
From an Old Farmhouse to a Contemporary Home
A new home now stands on the plot where a dilapidated farmhouse once stood, without severing its ties to the past. When designing the new house, it was important to preserve the characteristics of the old building that gave it its distinctive character – its placement within the landscape, its scale and its fundamental architectural logic.
The clients’ wishes also played an important role in shaping the design. While there was a desire to preserve the spirit of the old house, there was also a clear wish for a contemporary home without archaic elements. The key to the design was therefore finding a balance between respect for the past and the needs of contemporary living.
The new house does not imitate its predecessor. It does, however, stand in the same place, reinterpreting the proportions of its volumes and the logic behind the use of materials. In this way, it maintains a connection with the setting and the story of the former farmhouse while speaking its own architectural language.
A Thoughtfully Designed Home for Today and the Future
The limited size of the building called for efficient use of space and a carefully considered floor plan. Its 137 m² of living space is thoughtfully arranged to provide comfortable living for two residents today while allowing the house to adapt to the needs of a larger family in the future.
The house also includes a small apartment with three beds. This gives the property additional versatility – from accommodation for guests to an independent living unit or the possibility of tourist accommodation.
The house was completed in 2023. At Bauta, we participated in the project as the main contractor while M Sora supplied the windows and doors.

The OHS Minifest offers an opportunity to experience up close the architecture we usually encounter primarily through photographs and plans. This time, you will be able to explore the “House for Two Biker Souls Sharing a Ride” in person while also discovering the solutions and ideas behind its creation.
