Friday, October 21, 2022, marked an important milestone in Šenčur: on this day, the renovated “Blagne House” and the new Intergenerational Center were officially opened. Both will play a significant role in shaping the public life of the town in the years to come.
The “Blagne House”, originally built around 1789 and long recognized for its characteristic combination of a stone ground floor and a wooden upper floor with a balcony, was restored as part of a strategic public buildings project. The building had already been declared a cultural monument of local importance (in 2012), and the renovation was carried out in accordance with conservation guidelines to preserve its historical character. Alongside the renovated “Blagne House”, a modern Intergenerational Center was also established.
The renovated spaces now include:
- Ground floor: a multipurpose room for events such as municipal council meetings, cultural gatherings and tastings.
- First floor: two galleries for permanent and temporary exhibitions.
- Intergenerational Center: a meeting room, youth space, the office of the Pensioners’ Association and a computer classroom for training and workshops.
The opening ceremony was attended by municipal representatives, contractors, chaplain Martin Leban and local collaborators. The event was accompanied by a speech from Mayor Ciril Kozjek, who emphasized that the “Blagne House” is the result of many years of work and expressed his hope that it will become “a connection between all generations” in Šenčur.
