This year Bauta once again traditionally participates in the Open House Slovenia architectural festival 2026, which will take place for the seventeenth consecutive year between April 17 and 19. Across Slovenia, 100 projects of various typologies will be open to the public. Together with Biro Gašperič, we invite you to visit the project House Beyond the Noise in Škofja Loka on Saturday, April 18 at 14:00 and 15:00. During the tour we will present the architectural concept of the House Beyond the Noise, its carefully considered technical solutions and the high-quality execution of timber structural and building elements that together create a pleasant living environment.

The house is designed as a calm and thoughtfully shaped home next to a busy roundabout. Instead of opening towards the road, it turns entirely towards a quiet inner courtyard. The floor plan follows a clear and simple logic: under a single roof the carport, entrance area and central living space with a gallery are combined, while the bedrooms and covered terrace face a more intimate setting shielded from noise. Because of its low profile above the existing wall the house appears restrained from the outside, while inside it creates an open, bright and peaceful space for living.

Visit the Festival, See Architecture from a New Perspective

For many years the OHS festival has been built on the direct experience of space. Architecture is not observed only from a distance. Instead we enter it, experience it and explore it through movement, light, materials and everyday use. The festival encourages a thoughtful approach to space and an understanding of architecture as a shared social value. By opening the doors of carefully designed projects it allows visitors to experience designed spaces directly and invites the public to reflect on how we build, how we live together and what kind of spatial legacy we will leave to future generations. The presented projects show how architecture can respond to important challenges of contemporary society.

This year’s Open House Slovenia festival is held under the title All Measures of Architecture. It raises questions: where is architecture heading, whom does it address and who is it truly meant for. This is not only about size, the scope of an architectural task or the financial capacity of the client. Architecture operates on different levels: it creates homes, opens public spaces, shapes landscapes and helps build communities. What matters most is finding the right measure that allows relationships between people, supports an open and inclusive society, respects the past and acts responsibly towards the environment.

Architecture can express generosity through restrained gestures and can also become a measure of dialogue. Every existing spatial form and every intervention in space, no matter how small, becomes a reference for others – not only for architecture but also for people and society as a whole. In this lies both its task and its responsibility.
