Bauta is taking part in this year’s Open House Slovenia architectural festival, which will take place for the sixteenth time from April 11 to 13. More than 70 buildings of various typologies will be open to the public across the country. Together with Arhinex Studio, we invite you on Saturday, April 12 at 10:00 and 12:00 to visit the House on the Hill, where we will present the architectural design, construction process, and innovative technical details of the wooden elements.
The House on the Hill is a family home located on a small hillside farm, where the building blends seamlessly into the surrounding landscape. It features a partly atrium layout with a small living area in the attic. Built from natural materials with a basic timber frame structure, the house is defined by a covered veranda with a dining area and a separate wellness terrace. The roof includes carefully designed overhangs that provide shade without the need for blinds, while other parts of the façade are finished with a ventilated metal cladding. The interior is characterized by open spaces, a separate children’s area, and a technical room on the upper floor. Special attention has been paid to the rational organization of space and the quality of living.
You can view the project on the website, where you can also register for the guided tour and check available spots.
More About the Open House Slovenia Festival
The aim of the OHS festival is responsible spatial planning. Through personal experience, it seeks to bring the values of quality architecture closer to everyone and to encourage active participation in the dialogue about the built environment. It highlights good practice examples that offer solutions to the social, economic, and environmental challenges we face.
The central theme of this year’s Open House Slovenia architectural festival is Heritage for the Future. It reexamines the concept of heritage in the context of space and architecture, its understanding and evaluation, and its importance for the future. It invites exploration of buildings and spaces and the fascinating stories behind them — from innovative approaches to preservation, to finding balance between respecting tradition and local specifics, and adapting to the complex challenges of modern life.
It also raises a key question: which of today’s practices will become the heritage of tomorrow? The spaces and architecture we create today will shape the historical understanding and identity of future generations. By fostering dialogue and critical thinking between festival visitors and project authors, this year’s OHS festival aims to deepen our understanding of the role of architecture in shaping our shared future.
